Just watched the movie Closer (which is actually a pretty cool flick) and as soon as I heard that opening track I knew I had to check it out. I haven't listened to the entire 'O' CD but so far this stuff is fucking great. I love his voice.
I think what I like the most about it is that he really manages to get that raw, emotional feeling into the songs. Most of the artists who do nothing but acoustic feel too pop like they are justing trying to make a buck. But Damien reminds me of when hard rock bands do a rare acoustic track that is just pure emotion and focuses on the vocals.
Its a 2004 CD but hey if this is new to you give it a shot.

a friend of mine told me about Damien Rice a couple years ago, but i still have not really gotten into it. maybe i need to give it another listen. he gave me a copy of their album "O." is this the same one you have?
speaking of acoustic-- my buddy and i went to see a show last weekend where it was entirely acoustic. Kenny Wayne Shepard and Collective Soul both played a full set in a very intimate venue (less than 200 people) and it was awesome. probably most of you don't care about Collective Soul here, but they play a great acoustic show. go see them if you get the chance.
