"Failed to execute the following command: C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe+set sv_pure 0 +devmap test3 or 1 - 2.. im very confused i would be very happy if you could help me! /salute

Assuming your copy of Q3 actually lives in C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena, there should at least be a space before the plus sign in "+set sv_pure 0". If all else fails, start Q3 in the regular way, pull down the console (the tilde) and type:

/sv_pure 0
/devmap test3

before you try to load the map type \sv_pure 0 at the console.

Reading over this, it sounds like you have saved your maps somewhere arbitrary, not in your Quake 3 folder.

Open your map and make sure you save it in [your actual quake 3 folder]/baseq3/maps/

Then make a BSP.

Now open Quake 3.

Press the key which opens the console. This is the key to the left of the 1 key, below Escape (For US keyboards it often has a tilde "~" on it, so people often call it the tilde key, even though it isn't for most of the world!)

Now you can type in \sv_pure 0 and \devmap

1) save map in <q3 folder>/baseq3/maps
2) compile your map through the "Build"-menu within gtkradiant. Try one of the lower test builds or even final if you finished the map already
3) make sure compiling quits without any errors
4) fire up quake3, pull down the console and type "/sv_pure 0" followed by "/devmap <yourmapname>" e.g. "/devmap test3"

if this still fails, look in your <q3 folder>/baseq3/maps-directory for a file named <yourmap>.bsp. if it doesnt exist, check again your compile cycle and ask for further instructions here.

the second u wrote gets always an error always the same
paste the error message please!

and remember: Quake CAN NOT open the .map files created with radiant. Quake only can handle compiled .bsp files. You'll compile your maps with a program called q3map2 which comes with radiant and can be controlled through the build menu within radiant, directly from the command line or with other third party GUIs like q3map2toolz.

Replace test3 with the name of your map (no file extension).

As people already mentioned, make sure both your <mapname>.map and <mapname>.bsp file are in <your_quake_dir>/baseq3/maps/.

Also make sure you're running the correct copy of q3a if you have multiple versions installed.

Look in the following directory:
D:\...\Quake III Arena\baseq3\maps\

Do you see a test3.map AND test3.bsp?

The BSP one is the important one, Q3 uses that one only. It does not care whether or not you actually have a MAP file.

Let us know whether or not you actually have a test3.bsp in your baseq3\maps directory and we'll start from there.

Did you bring up the in-game console and type it in there after starting Quake3?

If not, bring it up before typing by pressing the "^/°"-key (left of the "1", above TAB on many keyboards).

omg...

So why don't you just do what we asked you to do. If you don't answer our questions we just cannot help you.
The error message you posted just CANNOT be from the compile process which you indicated to fail. It's a q3 error.
Read again my previous and obsidian's post, and do everything mentioned there step by step. Then answer the questions!

And if you lack the english skills, ask for someone assisting you in your native language, which is - I suppose - swedish? There are some guys from sweden here IIRC.

im very sorry. i thought i answered all your question! i read it again and again. but it seems i really dont understand what u mean all the time. i have a lack in english skills. i really dont mean to be rude to you im very grateful that you help me. if it is a q3 error. then i really dont know what to do. if you have time maybe u can help via msn messenger or something. so i can follow it step by step easier. the error message is from the bsp loading thingy in gtk radiant. after i did my map it was said im going to load it with bsp. when i search on that list i dont know which one i shall take. i save the map in my quake 3 folder. .. all the files. my map is like 3-4 kb big and is named bsp in the end. but its more than 1 file and thats where i get confused. sorry again guys!

okay finally some more information.
the easiest way to solve this problem would be uploading the .map file and putting a link here. Then we could easily take a look at it to determine if either the map is broken or your quake.
From your answer I guess it's the map and that you got a leak somewhere in your map.

You should really try again to compile it.
Open your map in Radiant and hit something like 'Q3Map2: (test) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -fast -filter' in the build menu.
Wait until the compile finishs. This process can last some minutes or even hours if the map is huge in size.
Now look at the output in the radiant console. If there is something written like
Writing D:/Games/Q3 Clean/baseq3/maps/mapname.bsp
Wrote 0.1 MB (104760 bytes)
1 seconds elapsed
Disconnecting
Connection closed.
the compiling succeeded. If you get something like
entity reached from outside -- no filling
--- LeakFile ---
7 point linefile
MAP LEAKED
your map is leaked and needs to be fixed. If this is the case please report here again and ask for further instructions.
Else fire up quake3, pull down the console, type /sv_pure 0 and /map mapname as told before and the map should load. If not doublecheck if mapname.BSP exists in /baseq3/maps/ directory. If this is the case, retry loading the map in quake and when you got back to main menu while loading the map, pull down the console again, scroll up until you find an error msg. Paste this here and we will help you.

Hope this helps finally :D

Edit: Oh and maybe you should take a look in the Preferences in Radiant. Go to Settings -> Paths and make sure your Engine Path is set to your Quake3-directory (note: NOT the baseq3 directory). E.g. "D:/Games/Quake3/" (without the quotes).

the option from bsp i took for my map: "Q3map2: (single) BSP -meta" the error message from it: " Running engine...
C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe +set sv_pure 0 +devmap test1
Failed to execute the following command: C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe+set sv_pure 0 +devmap test1" it seems that i cant load the map with bsp from my usual quake 3 folder. where exactly can i find paths? i didnt find any option "settings" i really hope it was the information u wanted from me:) and u know what to do next.

  1. Download this file, extract the contents to your [Q3install]\baseq3\maps\ directory.
  2. Open GtkRadiant, open boxmap.map (File > Open).
  3. In the Bsp menu, select: Q3Map2: (test) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -fast -filter
  4. Start Q3.
  5. Hit ~ to bring down the console, type /sv_pure 0, then /devmap boxmap
  6. The map should now load properly in game.
  7. If it doesn't, copy out the last few lines of the game log (bring down console and copy out exactly what it says).
  8. Go back to GtkRadiant, hit "o" and copy out the contents of the log.
  9. Post any errors here.
