I have a hard drive that I suspect is bad because it wont boot all of suden.
I have it as a slave on another computer and when I boot that computer I get
Primary slave hard disk error.
Know what this means?

I thought it would boot because it's just a slave. I didnt think the slave drive being fucked would affect the master drive from booting into windows.
It detects the slave in the bios.
Initially the slave as a master in the other compter was saying invalid system disk etc. and wouldnt boot.

Make sure the jumers are set on the drives correctly. The master drive in your known-good PC might need to have a jumper changed from "master" to "master with slave present". Also, make sure the questionable drive's jumper is set to slave.

Thanks.
I have tried it on another computer and this computer boots into windows xp...but takes a long time. When it finally does load wondows it only shows the C drive. It doesnt show the slave in My computer or in disk management. But it does show in the bios and on this second computer it shows that it fouind new hardware..a maxtor but then it doesnt show up anyplace.

On the second computer it probably doesn't shop up in My Computer because it doesn't think the drive is partitioned. You might find it in the disk management panel.
However even if you do, the diagnosis still looks like a failed disc. You could piss about for a while and perhaps be lucky enough to access your data again, assuming you need to get some data off it this might be a worthwhile time investment to you. But apart from that, it looks like the drive needs throwing in the bin or the warranty calling in.
