Is this possible?

Post by Fury »

A friend's computer is kinda fubared up. Basically it has ME on it and it needs to go away, so I was going to install XP on the system but my MSDN Academic Alliance subscription ran out because i went and graduated. So, another friend has the copy of XP that came with his Dell. Can I use that disk to install the OS or am I going to have to find another version of XP?

You'll need an XP serial number before you do anything.

Why? because it had ME on it?

ME worked fine if you didnt fuck it up. :P
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Do you pay for your food, clothing, lodging, and transportation?... Or do you steal them?

It's no different with software. People just think it's different or OK because it seems like no one knows but you.

Integrity means "what you do when no one is looking".

Just buy a fucking copy already.

Main difference is there won't be any metal detectors or security cameras to go through when downloading software :dork:

It's too easy nowadays and much easier to get away with, stop being such a puritan.

I look at it as an act of civil disobedience. Worked with music, CDs used to be around $20 and now they are around $10. NewEgg used to have an acedemic version of XP that was $85, I bought that, resonable price to me, it is no longer there though. The lowest XP on newegg now is $138.

Loading copies of XP from an expired subscription onto a computer you don't own is piracy, plain and simple. Have your buddy purchase his own copy of XP or use a free alternative as others suggested.
