Aren't you forced to go to school until your 18 in the US? Maybe if they dropped that back to 16 (like here) they would save much more money

No.. you are not forced to go to school until your 18. You can drop out at 16 if you'd like, there are some folks that actually graduate at 16/17 actually most graduates are 17 or so. 18 if they were born late in the year.
