What exactly is "Crown Land"? A co-worker and I were looking at some real estate papers and noticed alot of places in Canada say "Surrounded by Crown Land"
Just Curious :icon17:
Question for Canadians
What is Crown Land?
Crown land is land that is owned and managed by State Government. It accounts for over half of all land in New South Wales and includes: Crown lands held under lease, licence or permit; community managed reserves; lands retained in public ownership for environmental purposes; lands within the Crown public roads network; and other unallocated lands. Many non-tidal waterways across the State also comprise Crown land as does most tidal waterway land.
Crown lands managed by the Department of Lands (Lands) should not be confused with other forms of Crown or State owned lands such as National Parks, State Forests, State Rail property etc.

yeah it's just land owned by the people. i think this is one of the major differences between canada and the usa. back in the day the usa sold off most of its land to private people while the canadian government only allowed leases of the land.
this is a big issue with the softwood lumber dispute with the usa. the american companies have to buy all their logs from private landholders
and obviously have to pay alot more than canadian companies who log on crown land and pay stumpage fees.

It's all the land stolen from the natives in the Queen's name that can only be exploited by big corporations, usually resource rapers and polluters like mining companies that poison the local water, lumber companies that endanger wildlife and don't replant enough trees thus ensuring soil erosion and bleak uninhabitable areas for decades, if ever.
(looks like us Canadians all sleep in)
