anime
I am a total newb at anime. But I want to get into it... The only thing I've seen is Akira, and that was 8 years ago. I have the opportunity to buy a lot of them for really cheap. What are the better anime movies out there? What are the timeless classics of anime?

And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et fili, et spiritus sancti.
initial D is being made into a real movie atm

Cowboy Bebop
Interesting series, only 1 season long (the story was fully told in 26ish eps and didn't need to continue). I liked it. Good story, fun characters.
Cowboy Bebop - The Movie
Takes place at about halfway through the series chronologically. I reccommend it to those who watch(ed) the series, bt you'll be lost if you watch it as a stand-alone movie.
Ghost in the Shell
Great movie, good characters, cool plot. Watch it. Love it.
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex
Spinoff series of the movie. Currently airing season 2 in Japan. Season 1 can be seen on TV I'm sure, plus other *cough* places... I haven't seen more than the first few episodes, but the quality is the same as the movie. IMO it's more like 20-something 30-minute long GitS movies.
Last Exile
Fun futuristic series. You'll enjoy it if you like the Final Fantasy airships and whatnot. The setting of this show is my favorite of them all, though some of the dialog gets lost in translation. I'd rate it right between the other 2 shows I mentioned.

Anime = Japanes animationbork[e] wrote:mmm, thx.
what is anime?
(can't use any search engine btw...just tell me)
Think of it as Japan's version of Saturday morning cartoons. There is more of an audience for anime shows, though. More movies made from series or vice versa, people of all ages watch them, and the shows tend to be more mature. Ok, wrong word; they tend to deal with more 'adult' situations.

Street Fighter Animated is very good, but it prolly loses a lot of value if yer not into the game. very nice artwork though.
Battle Angel Alita is a good one too, if yer in the mood.
Princess Mononoke is a nice one. not an official manga though but thats hardly important

from what i've heard, the anime sucks though - read the manga; shirow is a geniuos at combining top drawings with a kickass action plot and an amazingly deep philosophical background.
... and now - some anime you should watch:
- Ghost in the Shell
- Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
- Jin-Roh
- Tombstone for Fireflies
- Neon Genesis Evangelion + End of Evangelion - without doubt the best thing that ever got on the tv screens in the last ten years.

That's what Saint Seiya was in Spanish. Man, finally! I recently got all 120+ episodes and 4 movies and had a blast going through like the first 40 or so before getting distracted. It was truly excellent, I still have four dolls stowed at my grandparent's place. Cisne (in Spanish, his name was Hyoga), Alpha and Epsilon from the platinum armor guys and Scylla (from the underwater Poseidon episodes).U4EA wrote:Caballeros del Zodiaco!!
