Weird, huh.

I read something last week that made me have one of those 'ah but of course' moments... some guy who recently wrote a book on Indian tribes in the Amazon stated in the interview that nature is not complete without man doing stuff to it, since mankind is an integral part of the enviroment. He illustrated it with Indian tribes torching the jungle for crops, and this actually being nessecary for the jungle to thrive - as well as it being nessecary for the humans to grow crops, which they in turn needed to survive.

I'd grown so accustomed to the idea of seperating the two... you know, there's nature and there's us... that i never gave this much thought. But he's right of course, we ARE part of nature, part of this planet - and as a species we've been around long enough for nature to not only have gotten used to us, but in some cases even to rely on human behaviour.

Err, yeah, i don't know if i explained that properly. Reads like a Kracus post *shrug*

ah yes,but there is a world of difference in Indians burning sections of the jungle, to white men clear felling the jungle.
having said that i agree with your general thrust, there are trees here in australia which only drop the seed pods after a bush fire has gone through

Yea, some pine trees require a forest fire before the cones will release any seeds.
