I've made the plunge....

into HD television. Went out and bought a 28 inch LCD flatscreen television last night. Completely on a whim too. It's an LG, nothing too too fabulous, but I sure as hell like it and the picture quality on movies and games fucking owns.

I'm not even sure what model mine is. Just know that the make is LG. I'll post more details about it when I get home from the office.

Home theatering is fun. Got a 30" lcd on the wall (upstairs) and a ~100" front projection hd (downstairs). 4 player xbox - everyone gets their own 'normal' sized view.

i am yet to see a screen that is over 42" that impresses me for visual quality.

i will prob see it when they finally decide on HD-DVD's or Blueray's.

Take the horizontal width of the screen (not the diagonal) and *2 it. That's how roughly far you want to be away for it to look superb while still maintaining a healthy part of your fov.

42"*2 = you want to sit 7 feet away from the screen

$.02

... what's the point of a big display if you sit half a mile away from it?
