hm... the us could easily escalate the situation, if exxon just continued to take the oil without increasing the share.
venezuela would be forced to stop them from pumping since otherwise the other foreign companies could join exxon.

then the us could say that venezuela was attacking their companies and could intervene.

on the other hand: the us has not got that many military resources right now.

It would be hard to spin that, since all the other oil companies have already agreed to Venezuela's terms.

the impact on these type of changes could be interesting, lots of govt owned businesses that do not sit within western (read US mainly) interests will result in steady transitions of power and influence...
