Pursuit Force on the PSP
Pursuit Force on the PSP
Anyone else played this yet? Got it today through gamefly. Not bad at all.
I take that back. After more time, this game has some very, very frustrating controls when it comes to combat on the vehicles. I've not played with the different settings (you've got standard or alternate controls, so not a lot of freedom), but you are supposed to just tap the left d-pad when you are hanging on a vehicle to get back on...and I cannot for the life of me get it to work. I get drug for about 30 seconds whether i tap, hold, or whatever. It costs me missions again and again. Very frustrating and getting repetitive. Plus you've got to tail vehicles and whatnot, and sometimes the level of specificity required by the controls (specifically throttle control with the boats, for example) just isn't what it needs to be to make the level really enjoyable and challenging instead of frustrating and challenging.
I'd say a rental, not at all a buy.
6/10.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max = Wont work because of shit diagonal on DPad.
World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 = Not bad, better than Fifa thats for sure.

Pinball Hall of Fame = Not bad, but you can get the same online for free.
Peter Jackson's King Kong = Awful game, only to be played at night or you cant see the action.
Ultimate Block Party = who?
Prince of Persia: Revelations = A good game but bad FPS with awful control make you wish you was playing it on a Game boy.

Lord of the Rings: Tactics, The = A good solid game, but nothing amazing.
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo = really poor control system means you can aim and move easily at the same time. Also bad graphics with no optimizations on frame rate mean that you cant actually hit what your aiming at because of the retarded analog stick.
FIFA Soccer 06 = Please fucking god, make the bloom stop and give me a decent football game.
Con, The = Trying to be Def Jam, only twice as shit as the already shit def jam.

Face Facts.
Buy a PSP.
Buy Ridge Racer.
Play it until you get to the Max tours then give up.
Buy GTA.
Play until the second city and think "hold on, I just spent £40 on GTA3, with a horrid frame rate and an hour and a half battery life...?", and then give up.
Wait for another good game to come out, possibly in 2007 on the PSP9, or whatever Sony have out then.
Buy a DS, and have a LOT of fucking fun on the games.

if your a 12 yr old who enjoys princess beach or their other 5 hr touch pad crap. If you want good old school gaming on the psp get megaman powere dup. It has a level editor where you can make your own maps and download other maps, and it has a capcom ranking system on those maps where ppl rate them. Psp also has awesome puzzle games and the big four are luminites, exit, practical itnelligent quotent (japan already has iq mania which is inteligent quotent from ps1 with addon), and mercury (awesome monkey balls like gameplay but alot better).
The new ghosts and ghouls looks killer:

oh and the review of metal gear acid 2 just came in:
http://psp.ign.com/articles/697/697493p1.html
and its funny you say pursuit force sucks when it averages ratings above reisdent evil for the ds and princess peach. The ds has a 6 yr old mario 64 going for it while the psp has the awesome daxter. Plus the psp will soon have a ps1 emulator with every resident evil game for it, all final fantasies, etc. way better than anything out, and I have like the entire snes game library on my psp with emulators that run perfectly and the ds is basically an upgraded super nintendo.

and if you want more old school platforming look no further than these homebrew mario games:
first game:
http://dl.qj.net/Super-Mrio-Bros:-Icela ... /catid/195
second:
http://rapidshare.de/files/15170840/SUP ... 2.rar.html
pic:

the second game has weird phsyics for mario and sometimes unresponsive controls so to fix this ,just grab all the data from milestone 1 exept the images, levels, music and sound folders (COPY THE DATA FROM THE FOLDER THAT DOES'T HAVE THE %,LIKE THE EBOOT,extro-bonus2.txt,extro-bonus.txt,Makefile.am,Mak efile.in,supertux.strf,AN D COPY THEM ON THE MILESTONE 2) it will fix the controls response problem, but the engine will be from milestone 1,it will be the same game, but you will notice some changes. Also one of the folders of the second game has added levels to the bonus island of the first I think it says on the folder though or in the read me if I remember. Oh and you need to have supertux in the k:\psp\game folder and in case you didnt knwo you put the other mario games in k:\psp\game as well but not all in one folder (in seperate folders). Supertux for psp download:

here is a vid of me playing the game:

this isnt too mention the psp ahving gps soon which would save alot of ppl money, already having awesome movie playback + mp3's etc., I ran with my psp in my pocket recntly which shows how portable it is, heck I still have my old gamegear and that thing was so huge you couldnt fit it in anything. All the psp needs is an official keyboard than it could really replace the labtop. the keyboard would make typing and online surfing much easier, but I heard sony is making a wordpad for 3.0 firmware so a keyboard isnt unlikely.
