The Neocon movement is over

Post by R00k »

I don't know how many of you keep up with fishing through different newspaper articles around the country on a regular basis, but one thing is becoming clear: a lot of neocons, including some pretty powerful leaders in the movement, are completely abandoning Bush and his administration's implementation of their agenda.

William F. Buckley and Francis Fukuyama, to name the most prominent, have both written articles recently, espousing various degrees of ship-jumping.

The disturbing part about this though, is that they are alternately calling the fruits of their brain-child's labors a failure -- while at the same time citing all the wrong reasons for said failure, and essentially ignoring their own roles in the entire debacle, as well as the role played by a purely ideological worldview and agenda, which is a core building block for the movement to begin with.

Just Raimondo's latest article is a good read on this topic:

So far these lunatics are being allowed to do this. Noone is holding their feet to the fire.

Will they get away scott free, unaccountable for the havoc their ideological brain child has let loose on the world stage? Will they slink back to the shadows to rebuild, only to revisit this farce of a vision on us again in 10 years, but with better marketing and more capable tricksters and politicians?

Discuss.

it's fascinating to watch that idiot william f. buckley trying to save the basic ideology from being tainted by the inevitable consequences of the actions taken in its name. i can imagine communists and nazi sympathisers reacting similarly when the crimes of communism and nazism were revealed. there's probably a term from psychopathology which covers this phenomenon
