Not to mention that on a regular basis the midwest faces storms and floods that DO demolish towns, DO force people out of their homes, and DO receive national attention and gov't assistance.

But it's a good thing they picked SNOW as the defining disaster that proves the toughness of those plucky Nodaks.
When it snows, the only businesses that shut down are those that can't plow their parking lots. Good luck plowing the fucking Gulf of Mexico off your doorstep.
