Just pickedupa video iPod =D

Post by Iccy »

Yea i know, big deal, you all probably got one, in which case, gratz to you all :)

What i wanna know is, video stuffs. Encoding and all that.

Example, i have a ren and stimpy DVD i wanna rip and tranfer to the ViPod ( patent pending on the word " ViPod" ;) ) and ofcourse there are video files of various codec's that i wanna transfer from my ftp to there too.

What tools would you suggest for this. I know i can google it and sift, but tapping the wealth of knowledge resident in this forum will be far superiour in the results i feel.

Plus anything at all you think is neat pertaining to a ViPod that you wanna share would be awesome too.

Thnx a bunch guys.

I got one yesterday. I went to the Apple store in the swanky mall on the south side of Charlotte. Drove past some seriously fucking nice houses to get there, and I felt like somebody's gardener that accidentally stumbled in through the front door of the big house. I mean, this mall is fucking NICE.
At any rate, I was floored to see how swamped the Apple store was. You could hardly move in it. Man, those giant-ass monitors are sweet.

Iccy, getting your podcast on yet? HAPPY TREE FRIENDS, BABY.

I been getting my podcasting on for a long time. Its what drove me to the ViPod. I watch like Diggnation and DLTV and im currently trying to figure out how to convert movies and rip dvds. As much as i drive it would be nice to have have some movies or rena nd stimpy or SNL or something playing out of the corner of my eye as im driving around. Especialy on those 4 hour east coast surfing trips.

Really stoked.

Diggin yours or what? Peeps say its not worth it, but i guess its all in what you need it for.

There is a new product from the slysoft folks (took over clonecd development) which essentially does what youre after on a number of media formats and devices.

It's shareware, but slysoft makes a nice range of products. I like anydvd and clonecd which come in handy (I know this just sounded like a pr pitch for slysoft, but it really isn't :p)

I'm going to go on the PR pitch too and say that AnyDVD and CloneDVD are great. The best thing about them is they're very easy to use and get the job done. I'm thinking of getting the CloneDVD mobile.

I expected you to say that. :p
I took your earlier advice concerning Creative to heart, but I've heard equal complaints about iPods, so either way I figured it's a gamble.

Ah that's true. Since I don't have any experience with Apple products they might be the same.
