Weight lifting question.
Weight lifting question.
Can you lift too much ?
I find myself gettign addicted to lifting i think. When im stressed out, which is everyday lately, i feel like i wanna lift, so i come home and bust out a few reps, most chest and arms, but its like everyday i wanna do it.
How bad or good is this?

You also need to be aware of overtraining smaller muscle groups like biceps by training them on a different day than back. For example, you'd never want to train back one day, arms the next, chest the next.
For strength training purposes, I think its good to keep biceps with back and triceps with chest (simple push vs. pull muscle groups).

Yea, that's not a bad split. If I was trying to add mass and not worry about remaining lean, I'd cut the extra days of light lifting and basically train and eat and rest.jester! wrote:Agree with tnf.
Something like this is what I have normally done.
Monday - Chest/Tri
Tuesday - Heavy Legs
Wednesday - Back/Biceps
Thursday - Light Legs/Cardio
Friday - Abs/Shoulders/Light Arms mostly to stretch out the muscles a bit.
Saturday - Swim.
Guess its just me, when im sore from back or chest its fine, but I always go to burnout and my legs dont seem to like moving the day after, going up stairs, sitting down, etc...Iccy wrote:Plus i feel good when im sore in my upper body the next day. But i like a good work out on the legs too, i like that leg burn, its like stretching after your tied or something.

The only time i get sore (DOMS style) is when I haven't worked out a muscle group for an extended period (weeks).
If you've just started lifting again, you'll bound to get sore. Enjoy it while it lasts, coz if you start lifting regularly, it doesn't return in my experience.
I just came back from gym - i've put on 8 pounds in the last 3 weeks (from 150 to 158) - hoping to get to 165 or so before i start cutting.
