While it obviously is a problem, I hate the way media will always sensationlize these things. I wish they'd just show what's going on rather than showing what's going on and creating a huge drama hype about it.

Y'know, I couldn't even tell you what news company that article was from. Don't care. I didn't even look at the headline. I just read the article got the jist of what they were doing and closed it. Thier sensationalism doesn't work on everyone. I do agree though that they don't focus on the important things and report on frivolous crap a lot.

For the record though, I think this is one thing that should be reported less and done more. They may have alerted some offenders that they might have caught otherwise.

There was a pedo that got arrested not far from here. I think his wife and daughter found child porn on his computer. He was also malesting his 5 year old son. He was also an alchoholic whose been stopped a few times and refused a breathalizer each time.
Now he's in jail awaiting trial.

Not to start the pro-pedo brigade or anything, but I think their lives are probably already pretty messed up even before getting caught.

I mean if you hade some fucked up internal struggle like that going on, and not able to talk to anyone about it, and then gradually giving into it and fucking up other people's lives in the process.

I dunno, that would seem messed up already to me. Getting chucked in jail, everyone knowing, and probably getting shivved by some inmates is prolly just icing.

I agree that they must be pretty sick to be at the point where they risk everything (marriage, children, job, reputation) just to have sex with a minor. Pretty fucking sick.

I just feel it's kind of dumb that the media asks point blank questions at probably the worst time to ask such questions. You're not going to get any good answers to 'why', just media sensation. Like watching a guy get his arm ripped off in a racing accident and then going up to him and asking, "why do you race?"

I think it would be more interesting and less sensational if they did an interview with a "cured" pedo/predator whatever who has been treated, medicated, thought about it long enough to fully comprehend why they have done and realized the monster they were.
