What can he say with a line up like that when the GC hasnt hadEzekiel wrote:Predicting O'diums arrival in 5... 4... 3... 2...
Dude, that's exactly the intent of Black. It's not meant to be a precision shooter (and remember you'll be playing this game with a controller). Have you ever heard the term "gun pr0n?" This game is catered to those with trigger-happy fingers who like to blow stuff upeepberries wrote:Black looks like a pretty "spray and pray" type of game. That's not a good thing. Why is this game supposed to be awesome?
But the awesome graphics, physics, and destructibles still apply, and I forgot to mention that this game has some of the nicest sound effects I've ever heard in a game. I think the only thing they need to improve on at this point is probably the AI; they still look a bit too dumb :icon32:...BLACK is whole lot deeper than what was first hinted at... because up until now, Criterion had presented it as a balls-out shooter with plenty of deformation and Hollywood effects. Think DOOM with extra coats of paint. But the truth is, BLACK isn't that kind of game at all.
In reality, EA's shooter is more like a post-modern Call of Duty with better physics. Truth be told, the similarities between the two games are pretty amazing. Just as in Infinity Ward's excellent World War II experience, for example, BLACK challenges you to take cover almost as frequently as it makes you rush. Blasting headfirst into a group of enemies armed with machineguns almost never ends with your character Jack still alive -- regardless if you have CPU-controlled squad mates or not.
Another similarity that BLACK has with Call of Duty is that it's scripted but doesn't feel overly confined.
Just like Burnout.Grudge wrote:So Black is console only? Stupid.
No, the reason was that Criteron (Whatever its called) wanted Burnout 3/Revenge to be online, so they didn't puit it on the cube, because online is so poor. They could of just released the SP game, people would of bought it.Foo wrote:I thought it was because Nintendo wouldn't tolerate a game with Burnout's them on the cube.
I give you a quote from the IGN preview piece I linked above:o'dium wrote:However, Black can be played on an xbox much better, or even a 360 if it comes out on it.
ROFL!o'dium wrote:What always gets me is that the GC "IS" more powerful then the PS2, thats a fact.
So how come they're not working on a GC version of Black considering it's SP only?o'dium wrote:No, the reason was that Criteron (Whatever its called) wanted Burnout 3/Revenge to be online, so they didn't puit it on the cube, because online is so poor. I read some of the latest IGN Black previews, and none of them mentions anything about frame rates, so I'm assuming it's running just fine on either system. A few people on other forums did notice a slight slow down in the PS2 demo (which is an old build btw) when there are a lot of explosions and firing the gun at the same time, but it's slight, not huge. Some say it didn't bother them at all.o'dium wrote:As for Black on PS2 and xbox being the same visually, i can understand that. What most fev teams do is make it on one format then port it to everything else. Note they said "it looked the same" not "it played just as smooth". Frame rates are one area where the games always differ, and while Black may "look" the same, it wont exactly feel the same.
WTF?! I read and heard that Killzone had shitty frame rates and had quite a few graphical glitches at places. Even some Killzone fans admit to this fact.o'dium wrote:I have the PS2 demo here but not PS2 to play Black on, or i would play it and give it a go. KillZone looks and was quite a good game for a PS2 game, both visual wise and frame rate wise. But at the end of the day, its all down to the team behind the game knowing what to do.
