There will always be areas that are ad free. Many people dont include ads on principle. However as Im sure you realize after a site gets to a certain point of popularity and bandwidth usage shoots through the roof costs have to be met somehow so some advertising gets called in blah blah blah.
Money makes the world run but shitty sites like file planet, the planet* network, and so on can be avoided for the most part. This place is owned/ran by them though isnt it? WHen theres problems we get a redirect there? Im sure if this was back when there where a dozen different forums with a great deal more users this place would have a bit of advertising going on, but I dont know.
Any popular site will eventually have to recover its costs...

the reason theres no advertising going on here is because they hardly know this place still exists.jester! wrote:There will always be areas that are ad free. there were ads here (banners only, no popups or layers) but after the big fat crash 1.5 years ago Turb just removed the ad code and GSI/IGN never bothered to check up on it.
not suprising since turb & raw had to fight for months to get this place up n running again - gsi was prepared to just shut it down completely

So you can use an ad blocker, great, however there are still file planet type sites that you need to click 3 times just to get to the content. WHy? Because they increase ad views, and not everyone has the savvy to use an ad blocker, ppl who do are definitly in the minority of net users. Questions?Freakaloin wrote:but i still NEVER see ads...
