I had Vonage and it sucked. No matter how much bandwidth I dedicated to VOIP, the sound would get garbled. The routers always seem to have problems (tried two different routers). They would always drop part of the of the signal; I could make calls but not receive them or the other way around. Alot of the time I didn't have phone service at all. My internet would work fine, but no phone line. I ended up switching back to regular telephone service, even though I had 6 months of free Vonage service coming.
That technology still needs alot of work.

Humm, i have delt with that a few times gramps. but usually the BEST way, and trust me i know you dont want to hear this..
but what i found works is getting a Voip server, that dubbles as a router, there are tons of aapp's and etc that can do this, and something as simple as a 200mhz box can do this, and it will also include loggin and etc.
as it sits though, with current technoligy that is made to be "simple" it does need to come a long way, but if you are willing to set out the right resources, then you will benefit. right?

They sent me two different VOIP routers, specifically for their service and neither one of them worked right. I'm not saying that it was Vonage for sure that was the problem. It could have been some kind of conflict with my ISP. All I know is that it was suppose to work and didn't(most of the time).
Thanks for the heads up though.

I've had Vonage for a few months and I think it's great, we're saving about $35.00 a month and no service problems. I have the little linksys pap2 adapter slightly larger than a pack of smokes so we can take it with us when we travel. I had one issue with the voicemail lights on the phone not turning off, but that was due to their voicemail upgrade and the fact that I never finished setting up my VM.YourGrandpa wrote:I had Vonage and it sucked.
