What a run

Post by andyman »

This morning I was told I was running in a 5K race...of course I said you have to be kidding me, but now, I ran the race.
The times were split between ages 35 and over and 34 and under, and men and woman of course.

I finished 3rd in the 34 and under group with time of 20:20 and a shitty start. I got caught in the back of the pack and had to wait awhile to break off, other wise I probably would have done better...maybe a 20 flat. I think I finished either 4th or 5th overall. Not bad for not running at all in 2 weeks :p

that kinda makes sense. the average human walking speed is 5km/h. the average running speed (not counting athletics) is 15km/h. so going 3 times as fast will reduce the time by a third; 60/3 = 20.

he said miles though. 2 miles in 20 mins is 10 mph. that's quite a brisk walk.

That's a decent time, the fittest Marines I knew did 3 miles in about 15 minutes. Max points for the 3 mile run portion of the Marine Corps physical fitness test are had at 20:30 and faster.
Fuck, I knew one jarhead that would run to the 1.5 mile marker, smoke a cigarette then run back. He did it in 17 minutes. I hated him.

I can just barely walk to the depanneur whitch is just a block away and come back with a 12 case of beers and above that I now buy them in cans instead of bottles so they are less heavy.
