how the fuck do you get a high res close-up?

i zoom all the way in and it's still heavily pixelated

Go to options and set the 1024 texture mode. And up the disk/memory cache. Also, aside from heavily populated/popular areas (like the giza pyramids) a lot of the other stuff is still low res. I've heard that the nasa worldwind app has a lot more areas with high-res images, but I haven't tried it.

Depends where you are. Only certain metro US areas have high-def images.

i upped the res/cache

no change

it must be low res pics

not looking to see a gnat's ass

just a discernable outline of a house

Try nasa worldwind... if they have a lot more high-res images I might switch over. I just like the intergration with the google earth community and all.
