Video Cameras

I'm in the market for a video camera. Necessities are that it needs to be reliable and rather durable, and i'd like for it to be easily able to modify settings (aperture+focus, but an fps-control would be useful). Also, cost is something i'd like to keep lower.

i am useing my digi cam for video all the time now

its got a fuckload more contrast resolusion then my 3 chip mini dv.

and its progressive scan.

also its got terrible low light pics, but the low light vid is excellent.

and it was fuckin cheap as chips at 250ish.

there are some downsides like zoom and record time but i doent mind.

and there is no manual controls, but i can make it do what i want.

Using digital cameras as camcorders is OK, but often there are important features which are often missing such as

- "steady-shot"
- a nice optical zoom
- cheap recordable media

The Canon Elura 90 is pretty good and has a 20x optical zoom and often wins magazine awards.

I've already got a digital camera (with really shitty resolution and 30 second max video recording), but i will need a serious camcorder for actually making movies.
