Procrastinating

Post by shiznit »

If I could change one thing about myself it’ll probably be that, I have 2 short essays to write in the next 3 days and I’ve had more then 20 days to start them. I always finish work but it’s always last minute.

Anyone else suffer from the same problem?

Yep.

They did studies to show that the same habit (not starting work until the last moment) effects monkeys, too.

If that makes you feel better.

I had 6 months to do my final year project at university, it accounted for a third of the marks for the year, I did it in a month because I started getting a bit worried, I ended up finishing it on the day of the hand-in. Still did reasonably well though.

Yeah quality for me doesn't seem to suffer, but near the end I'm going crazy trying to finish everything before the deadline.

Kinda makes me feel shitty cause you know you got work to do and everytime you think about it's like "!@#$% I got shit to do, but I'm too lazy to start now still a few weeks."

University is a joke.

I'll no doubt fail now I've made this comment, but really.. all the shit they spin about 'those who attend the most lectures inevitably do the best work' is pure bullshit. natural ability and/or dispensation towards quality work are pretty much the only deciding factors.

I've seen people at university on design courses and the like slog the shit out of themselves for a lousy 2/2. Their work was fantastic, but the reality is the markers don't give a shit and don't get to see that side of things.

If qualifications were given based on realistic evaluation of effort as well as final product, degrees would be a lot moe accurate.

Though in that situation, I'd be fucked for sure :)

I think it does for me to an extent, but it's impossible to prove that because I've never ever finished any significantly-sized project well ahead of time.

University sort of sucks because no matter which area you want to go into you are forced to do unrelated boring shit.

It's gotten pretty bad for me. To the point where I write 5 page essays an hour before they are due. FYI, they don't end up being 'A' papers.
