I means the Oct. 9th update.
Hmm the man has a point
It's a good point, but it conflicts with the development business model. Deadlines must be met on time or risk losing funding. Unfortunatelly, no piece of software is ever bug free, and post-launch maintenance is the most expensive. In the game industry, the issues complained about are practically inevitable.
What needs to change is the perception of programmers. Once companies give more value to development methodologies, and the rights of programmers as workers, we will be able to see better products from the start.

Yeah but who's going to take the initiative? All these greedy scumbags want to do is make a ton of money, and EA is on the forefront. If nothing changes in the market sales wise or whatnot why would EA want to put fourth the resources and improve things?
Have you seen the release of Madden '06 on psp? ffs, EA's sports model is so ridiculous right now. They want to jump ship on every platform on the market as fast as possible and in turn some games suffer, almost as an afterthought. The psp Madden game has so many problems that it almost feels like it was put together with bits and scraps.

What I mean is that games like Quake 3, Doom 3, Unreal Tournament and Half-Life 2 are pretty well polished games out of the box.
As for CD key issues, those have been mostly user errors and 1.25 was technically speaking a decent patch. The only fuckup on id Software's side was that they forgot to mention that it would break mod compatibility and they introduced a number of gameplay tweaks which upset the community. I wouldn't compare the 1.25 "fiasco" to something like Madden 06 or the constant stream of rushed low quality sequels EA keeps churning out.
