Bought a set of drums the other day,

Post by Geebs »

It's fun. Right leg and right arm still tend to try to do the same thing, though :icon26:

yeah I had that problem too..... the way I sorted it out was if you move your two feet in opposite directions like your hitting the kick pedals one after the other, then move your hi-hat arm to x2 the beat of your left foot, forget about your left hand for just now till you can

open hi hat
kick bass pedal
and tap hi hat x2 beat of left foot with right hand

when you got that down playing snare is easy cause its just on the same time as right foot.

you need to cross your brains over and make them join up.

another good way to get used to it is move your right foot in big circles clockwise and your right arm in big circle anti clockwise

that will soon get you there,

I just tried doing that and nearly broke my leg and arm simultaniously

I just tried that and got a thumb in the eye.

Been trying to get through "Friends" by Satriani, 'cos I thought it would be easy what with the slow tempo etc. Then I find that half the snare hits are right hand and half are left, except for two bits in the song where they aren't. Ouch.

Actually it's a cheap electronic one :o! , I live in the centre of london and can't get away with a proper acoustic set. Plus does all the Midi triggering stuff and didn't require me to buy 18 microphones and 40 foot of carpet to record :icon26:
