ForM’s Cat

The Capture

Last we read dear readers, ForM was face to face with his archrival. The deliverer of ForM’s worst nightmares, the bringer of his twisted mind, his sickest and most twisted ideas from the grave. Let us rejoin him now and explore what makes a man tick.

Right now he is behind a propelled lawn mower, and having bumped into a cage that was set over three weeks ago, that now sits exposed, full of horror, he stands frozen.

ForM just stood there. Staring into the eyes of the one thing that had changed the course of ForM’s life.

Even though it was a crisp 65 degrees outside, as the mower rumbled along in its run state, with fresh cut grass smells, ForM’s brow began to show beads of sweat. His eyes, deeply entrenched into the eyes of his most revered nightmare, darted away to the backdoor and all of the windows of his house, and then darted back into the cage. The prize’s eyes had never left its glare. He let the clutch out on his self propelled mower and let it walk forward a couple of feet. Disengaging he bent down and tried to cover the cage back up nonchalantly. The cat, watching every movement hissed again and batted at the hand that moved some weeds about. One claw made a slight scrape on ForM’s knuckle unnoticed. This recognition and cover up took all of 26 seconds.

Form reengaged the clutch and continued mowing. As he went around the yard, his eyes kept looking at the place where the cage was. He was heavily in thought about how to get some time alone so he could play with his newfound OLD friend. In ForM’s mind, there was some payback due, in interest.

But first at hand was where to hide the cat. ForM passed by the outside shed and smiled. Even though it’s made of tin, and gets hot as hell inside, it would be a perfect place for storage. Besides, the heat aspect would be a form of torture. ForM smiled again and looked back to where the cage was in the fence line.

Then he wondered how he would get that cage in without his wife knowing. After all being in there, and out of the house she might not hear its putrid cries for life. Unlike that little kitten that she found in his car and adopted, much to his horror. He begged her to let him take it to the shelter. But she wouldn’t hear of it. It was so cute, she said.

Yea well, he thought to himself, this basted isn’t getting away.

As ForM rounded the lawn and the cutting got smaller and smaller, his determination set. His brow was tight and his teeth clenched. ForM was in full anger mode. There was nothing that was going to stop him now.

When the back yard was finished he pushed the mower back into the shed. Taking a few seconds he pushed a couple of boxes that were filled with Christmas lights, out of the way. He then walked into the house to see what his wife was doing. It was time to send her off on an errand.

“Honey?” ForM devilishly wined.

“Yes dear?” she replied from the bedroom.
ForM smiled. “Can you go get us some oil for the mower while I drain it?”

He heard her sigh. “We need some milk too,” he added. He heard her coming down the hall.

“What kind of oil?” she asked.

“Anything 10-20,” he replied. He then handed her a twenty-dollor bill. As she gathered her purse and keys ForM smiled again.

All according to plan. Even though it was a rush and hasty plan, ForM felt it was going to all come off in a glorious and fashionable state.

After she pulled out of the driveway ForM watched to see if she was going to come back. He knew it would take all of twenty minutes for her to get back and he was counting. After 3 minutes he knew he was in the cool coast and ran out the back door.

He snatched the cage up and shook it hard. The tom, heavy and old just hissed at him and awaited its fate. ForM sat the cage down inside the shed and looked again. It wasn’t even looking at him now. It was examining its new surroundings. ForM kicked the cage and it looked back up at him. Form Smiled and slid the door shut.

Will ForM's rushed plan work out?

What was the cat looking at if not ForM?

Will the madness ever end?

We shall see dear readers....
