good read, confirming a lot of things really: the early US desire for saddam to be replaced by basically another, more compliant, saddam; the incompetence and lack of intel on the mid-east by the CIA; the use of inspections as a cover for other motives (of course blair tried to use UN inspections and sanctions as a pretext for war in 2002/3, as the downing street memo shows); the timing of operations according to US domestic interests.

it all makes perfect sense really

he was charged and convicted of a misdemeaner.. nothing else.. no jail time. It was a smear campaign obviously, but doesn't cover the fact he was charged and convicted..

The part about the US sending out a letter on the British operation is especially interesting. What a massive debacle by US intelligence. It's almost hard to believe.

He's a pedo? LOL. He was never convicted of any crime, and his case was dismissed. Obviously that means nobody should trust him to do his job.

I swear to god, I'm still completely amazed at how people can take this kind of smearing bullshit, and completely dismiss very important legitimate facts in light of it.

Scott Ritter has been right on all his claims about Iraq's WMD's, since before the war started. You're still trying to say that because somebody called him a pedo, all his years of research and testimony to the public should be disregarded? Think about what you are saying.

Not to mention that the judge in his case immediately adjourned it, and said that the case would be dismissed unless some other evidence came to light proving he had pedo tendencies. Why would a judge say that, if there was any evidence whatsoever that a man attempted to perform sexually deviant acts with a child? No judge would even consider dismissing that, unless the evidence against him was worthless. So it was dismissed, but some political hacks found out that they could dig it back up, and convinced a couple of attorneys to try to smear him with it, and it all comes up right around the time Ritter was saying the President's war was a scam?

People find Tom Delay has been laundering money for political campaigns, and it's just a liberal, partisan political smear. But this happens and it's taken seriously. Fucking ridiculous.

Politics wouldn't be such a dirty business if people didn't fall for it, you know.
