PowerDVD users?

Post by seremtan »

any powerdvd users had the problem where you stop watching a subtitled movie part way thru, exit powerdvd after bookmarking, and when you come back to the movie, the subtitles won't play from your bookmark (or resume)? had this problem with house of flying daggers (and passion of the christ). if i start the movie over, the subtitles show fine, but the option to display them is greyed out and unchecked if i try to play from the bookmark

anyone know how to fix this? i've googled this issue without any success btw

i've tried U shortcut but that doesn't work either. the subtitles are fine if i start the movie over again, but if i try to pick up from my bookmark they're off with no option to turn them on (greyed out right-click menu option plus the control bar button doesn't work either.

oh fuck it, flying daggers was pretty good i'll just watch it from the start in one sitting

oh, i'm using powerdvd v4 (OEM). perhaps an update is in order?

just checked with PDVD 6 dlx and had no problem with bookmarked start and subtitles.

I'm not so sure about it yet, but I remember when using PDVD 4 there were some issues with XP, so they put out an updated XP version later.

why not just remember the mark that the bookmark is at ("0:50:19" or whatever), and put on the subtitles and skip to that part ?

I dont agree with dnoyc, but there doesn't have to be something better out there for a piece of software to be rightly called 'shit'.

Battlecruiser 3000 was peerless, but still shit.

excellent use of bc3k as an example.

edit: and for what it's worth you're right, it's not really shit, as there are much worse programs out there. it's just not especially good.

as it happens i checked out some reviews comparing various software DVD players and windvd always seemed to come a close second to powerdvd. I'M JUST SAYING, LIKE

anyway, i got powerdvd 6 deluxe from....erm....somewhere. will try it out later

ze people wit windvd have it because they have it, not because they prefer it. i've used windvd before and the interface is no better than powerdvd. lol if you start in on video quality.

i tried windvd 7. wouldn't even play a disk. also powerdvd 6, which has video and audio stutters and wouldn't even show subtitles at all

i think i'm just gonna go back to pdvd4 oem. AT LEAST IT FUCKING DOES SOMETHING
