I don't need mouse gestures, I don't need to save a split second on rendering times, I don't need my browser to report itself as something else. I don't need opera.

I need tabbed browsing on a simple interface that happens to be open source. I need firefox.

Don't forget that not all websites follow universal standards. Many are only written to work in Internet Explorer. In that sense, IE is the superior browser. Who wants features when they can't open certain pages?

News flash: Even though Mozilla's amount of users claim was proven highly inflated, Firefox is still the new IE. It's got a ton of exploits, and it's not all that great. Who wants to upgrade every week because of a security flaw, mostly due to negligent 'programmers'?

Updates don't come out that often, and the fact that there are regular updates means that they're actually working on it.

And as for Mozilla's amount of users being highly inflated, that was a comment by some Opera official if I remember correctly. So much for a neutral source of information.

Additionally, I remember that he didn't say the amount of FF users was inflated but that the number of Opera users is deflated because many Opera users set their user-agent identification to IE. It's not like FF users are actually IE users. IE users can't change their user-agent setting.

Besides, who cares how many people use FF. I certainly don't. All I know is that Firefox suits my needs and I don't need another browser. Not IE, not Konqueror, not Safari, not NeoPlanet, not Opera. Case closed. And if FF is an inferior product in your eyes, then why would you care if I continued using it? It doesn't hurt you does it?

Wrong. Open source makes you pay more in the end. The world obviously will never switch to open source garbage like Linux, so there will never be an entirely free majority. Linux nerds have this crazy idea that someday everyone at home will be on free products, small businesses will run cheap servers, and big business will stay pretty much the same as it is now, on corporate Linux. Bzzzz. Wrong.

1. Without big companies to steal innovations from, computer software would not evolve.

2. Free open source 'competition' displaces real competitors so one of two things happens: a.) Higher prices for legit products. b.) Prices drop so low that the industry suffers and we start seeing people whining on blogs about how Microsoft pays them $8 hourly to program Office 12.

So it's the end user that gets hurt. By supporting Opera, I know I'm not wasting my time with a garbage product like Firefox. I know I'm getting the fastest Internet experience by multiple virtues.

Besides, Firefox won't last another five years. Google is looking for a browser, and word on the street is since Google likes functionality, performance, and features they're obviously heading to Oslo.

I used Opera once. It was clunky, unstable, and had an annoying banner. It also doesn't have support for things I use daily with FF such as, BugMeNot, Habari Xenu, Google Images Relinker.
