Personally i would first like to see some serious Reparations from the Spanish: they totally raped the Republic of the Netherlands back in the 17th century before we finally kicked them out after 80 years. Also the Brits should pay us Dutchies a handsome sum of money for repeatedly sinking Dutch merchant/pirate vessels from the 15th century on, until about the 19th. We only sunk a few of theirs, it's not fair! We could have been an empire too, we should be compensated.

After that perhaps we could discuss that whole slave trading thing.

if we didnt trade new amsterdam for suriname we actually might have quite an empire by now :o

EDIT: also, there seems to be more sympathy here for the boy who's now in jail and his parent then for this American girl. From what i read in the papers i mean - it's not big news here at all.
