A quick Google search tells me that 30,000 children die in Africa every day, and I feel a lot worse for them (since they starve to death, get hacked up with machetes, or die of malaria) than I do for a bunch of over-privileged white kids that went quickly.

Is it sad that these kids got smoked? Sure. But I guess the real question here is: Do you walk funny with that stick up your ass?
No one ever gives a shit about children dying in africa every day, i don't believe you.

Bullshit holmes, all it takes is a different attitude about imprisonment. It's a philosophical thing, not a money thing at all.

I've often laughed at posts like 'i hope he gets raped in prison!' i've seen around here. It's just very weird to see that the average person across the pond appears to think miserable and hopeless conditions for prisoners are only right and just since they're criminals, whereas here we tend to think the punishment is the time served and you'd do well to offer good conditions and learning programs and honest to god jobs lest you end up with a gold star street thug academy. I remember a few years back some dutch cunt successfully fought extradition charges to a particular state in the US with the argument he'd have to live in inhuman conditions :olo:
Oh well.

maybe i'm wrong, but i'd rather have the trained police officer who was on the scene when the shooting started be able to carry a pistol, rather than let 75 children get slaughtered in daylight.

but i'm an american. we're generally more compassionate toward children and it seems like a logical choice to give a professional peace keeper a weapon when the criminal is using it to kill kids.

Something like this has literally never happened in Norway.

You'd be looked at cross for suggesting that they arm a camp.

Look, you can come up with a million ways that this could have been less bad, but this guy clearly demonstrated that he was a careful planner and he picked his targets specifically. Unless we're just going to have an armed adult at all gatherings at all times, someone intent on causing damage will be able to find a way to do it.

I think this dude would have been clever enough to take out whatever security guard they had on the island as well. He came in posing as a cop...

Yea, that one off-duty police officer on the island would made a huge difference if he was armed. The perp was dressed as a policeman and pretty much shot 10 people before anyone could react. Stop being ignorant.

It took Deltasquad (Norwegian Police special forces) 1 hour since they were called to capture the offender. Thats pretty amazing in my eyes considering its a 30minute drive, and on a small island.
