I don't think it ONLY supports WEP, that's just what we use here.

Taken straight off of my Wii: WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), and WPA2-PSK (AES).
Hope that helps.

That's great.
Unfortunately, because of my DS I'll be stuck to WEP since the DS only supports WEP. I don't broadcast my network though. That isn't a 100% guarantee ofcourse, but makes chances of someone cracking the WEP key and logging in a lot smaller (especially considering there's at least two other WiFi networks, one of 'em unprotected. Haven't been able to get a stable connection on it though because the signal is too weak)

I also do the same. You could also set up your router to allow only specific mac addresses. Then you don't have to worry about someone else using your wireless connection.

Oh yeah I've got that as well. It also registers every device (on MAC basis) that has ever connected, so if I see an untrusted connection I know something isn't right.

MAc addy spoofing is so easy its not even funny.
wep 128bit + MAc addy filtering = 10-15 mins to crack.

Thank you Mr. Craig Newmark for the early Christmas present. Target = failure.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the Wii right now. It's living up to all the hype. For some reason I'm really liking the bowling game.
Now just have to work on component cabling.

So you didn't buy it retail yourself?

I realized that I had spent at least 10 hours of my personal time looking online and driving to retail places looking for one. And the sales people were sometimes giving me false information ("check back tomorrow, loser") and so I ended up wasting more time. I finally got sick of it. So I waited until I saw a fair deal on craigslist (much better than the auctions going on ebay) and went for it.
Suffice to say I'm very happy right now.

Im totally picking one up soon. We got our display at work running finally (waited 2 weeks for the nintendo rep to show up with setup discs and controllers), And lemme just say, its fucking fun.. Excite Truck wins.

The cheapest one on craigslist here is $375 without any extras. I just hate the idea of paying that for one if I can stop by Toys R Us on the way to work one day and get lucky and only pay $250.
They have been getting them trickling in, a few here and there, the challenge is to be there at 9 am one day when they actually have some.

Nope, the stores around here are only getting 1 or 2 at a time, and they're selling out as soon as the store opens the next morning.
There are still kids here waiting outside stores when they open to get one.

I'm beginning to worry that I won't be able to get my hands on a Wii before christmas. Every retailer have their preorders fully booked, and all the webstores I've found that sells the Wii don't expect a second shipment until January. That sucks.

It seems waiting outside at 3am wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Whenever you guys do get one, make sure you get Zelda. It's the fuckin' sweetest game ever. The world is so huge... there are some parts of the game where you can stand on a rock or something and see across the entire continent almost.. it looks truly amazing. Plus the game itself is like 30x bigger than any other Zelda game. I've been playing it for 30 hours and I'm not even half way into it

mrd, are you running component cable? I'm running composite now and am wondering if I should wait before really getting into zelda, seeing if there's going to be a dramatic increase in quality.
