So give us the low-down - what's it like? I'm not getting one until Christmas.

Dude the sports games are actually really fun. I can see myself playing a lot of golf on this system. Boxing is pretty sweet too. Haven't played a lot of Zelda yet but so far its good. Super Monkey Ball is a blast with the remote too. The game download section only offers like 7 games right now and only Sonic 1 and Mario 64 are worth getting but cost $18 combined.
My only complaint is that I can't get it to connect to my wireless router so I have to mooch on my neighbors.

Got mine yesterday via DHL. I was like, "You guys deliver on SaturdISTHATWHATITHINKITIS?"
Wii channels suck so far. Opera is running and unlocked on mine, but as far as I can tell, standard consumers won't get it for at least another week.
Runs pretty quiet, too.
By the way, ExciteTruck is your daddy.

I made this post under the false assumption that you would even touch a computer in the next 24 hours. lol

I decided to download Sonic and Mario 64. The emulation is ace. I just wish they'd upload more games worth playing.

I'm pretty impressed so far with the Wii. I bought two games with it. Trauma Center and Zelda: TP.
I loved the ds version of Trauma Center and even though this is a remake it feels like a completely new game because of the control scheme and graphics.
Zelda is excellent so far as well. I'm near 4 hours into the game and I haven't even gotten to the first dungeon yet.
*Spoilers*
I just got to the dark world and am loving every minute of it. Although I probably spent about 20 minutes trying to get out of the cell. I dug in nearly every possible spot too before I figured it out. :icon7:
*End Spoilers*

So give us the low-down - what's it like? I'm not getting one until Christmas.
Low Down: The system is small and easy to find a place for. the sensor bar comes with a nice mount so finding a place for that wasn't a problem either. Setting it up was dead simple, even the internet bit. Typing with an aimable pointer is much better than a joypad for entering wep key type info. The Wii Shop channel is eh. I expected the web browser to be ready to download out of the box, but it's not ready yet. I also expected more virtual console games, especially Golden Axe which still isn't out. Meanwhile I picked up Super Mario 64 and Bonk's Adventure to tide me over.
Games: Zelda is amazing but it starts really slow. Using the Wiimote to slash and stuff is ok, nothing amazing about it, about as functional as a button considering Link isn't known for his wide variety of crazy super moves. Aiming with the bow/slingshot/hookshot/boomerang is MUCH faster/easier than before. My hands shake a lot and it seems like there's some shake protection built into the motion sensor so the cursor moves smoothly and I don't twitch off target. Horseback fighting is fun. Puzzles aren't terribly lame and actually require thought. Story is the same ol thing for the most part. Oh and the game is like a time rift. Once you start hours pass as do meals. Managed to play five hours after waking up only to miss breakfast and lunch. Also cause of the nunchuk it's really relaxing to play in pretty much any position.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance: Soooooo fun. if you like X-men Legends get this game. Any platform will do but wii lets you web swing enemies around in a circle with the wiimote which is retardedly fun.
Wii-Sports: best game to show to people who don't normally play games, along with any other collection of minigames you can find. I love bowling cause i do about as well in that as i do in real bowling.
Battery Life: Get rechargable batteries if you're any kind of long term gamer. 35 hours is average on a set of 2 AA batteries whicdh goes quicker than you can imagine.

firmwave updates should fix that, or shouldn't they?

it could, but not sure why it wouldn't right out of the box if they wanted to support it. WPA/WPA2 have been around for awhile now.
