Attempting to turn my views into black and white just overlooks the view I'm putting accross. Like I said previously, I'm not looking for perfection, but the rather ridiculous physics and other aspects in this film prevented me from being drawn into the film and as such I didnt enjoy it. Yeah, I do expect them to get the physics correct these days, be the movie about an ape, a kangaroo, a blimp, or alien worlds, or what have you. If not it just becomes stupid, and hence, unenjoyable.
Something is wrong with you. How can you not enjoy a movie, due to wonky physics? It is a movie, there is something called a story which is told, and unraveled through some very crafty direction and plot progression. I also thought some of the scenes were obviously CGI, but the fact is, it's to be expected! It's King motherfuckin' Kong! A story of a giant mythological ape, that dwells on an island untouched by man, and home to many other mythological creatures!

What I'm saying is, if your inadequacies as a movie goer keep you from enjoying a movie. Keep it to yourself.

I never fucked my argument, but mentioned specifically how it irritated me. I shouldnt have done anything different, and beyond it I dont need to be lectured to about how to argue. How difficult is it to understand that in the context of the fantasy there are specifics that can be so damn ridiculous that it ruins the fantasy? This is the reason why the original King Kong is hard to get involved in. The realism just isnt there that allows you to get drawn into the depicted fantasy. In the context of a big ape found on a mysterious island there are things that can fit that world, and one isnt (in this movie) making the main chick suddenly become "superhuman" such that she survives forces that would obviously rip her arms off or batter her to death several times over, and then to have these events going on and on and on and on....as such its overdone and stupid. Additionally, to have a dinosaur stampede end up in a dinosaur pile...it looked like a monsterous organic version of the end of the police chase in The Blues Brothers. There's no way that can continue the fantasy...it just kills it, and this killing occured in many aspects of the film, and many, many times during the film.
You're reading into this movie way too much. There really are no specific's within the fantasy of this movie. Yes, they find a mysterious island, where a girl is lugged around by a giant ape where she is put under circumstances where she quite possibly should have died. That is not the point.

The whole point of the movie is about the girl, her failure in the city, and her new love for Kong. Why you're even bothering to consider the CGI as a critical part of this movie is beyond me.

I've repeated over and over its not just wonky physics, but bad acting, dialogue, among other stuff that kept me from enjoying it. Folks asked for input on it, so I gave it, and then was attacked for having provided negative feedback about the movie. Give me a fucking break. You only want positive things said about the film. In that case, seeing how I will not keep it to myself, your best bet would be to ignore my negative feedback and save yourself the frustration.

Additionally, your pathetic attempt at applying truthfulness and relevance in an analysis of my "inadequacies" just discredits anything you have to say. Go hide and read only positive feedback, and enjoy the film if it suits you to do so.

I never made much of the CGI at all. I only mentioned it in passing, saying there was nothing special about it, but overall it was good looking nonetheless.

I do expect quality caliber films to be made these days, and especially those which are given as much hype as this one was given. The story is simple, but could have been done much better than was done here, and as such I was disappointed. I disagree with there being no specifics in a fantasy. I fully expect folks to take into account basic human interaction and reactions, but this had no believable acting and interaction at all. Who the fuck gets dragged through a forest by a huge monster, and when consciousness is regaind ends up dancing and juggling in front of the monster?!? Seriously, if this doesnt cause you to say "WTF?!?" then there's something odd going on. I can understand a few hokey things like this, but things such as this were CONSTANT throughout the film and dragged on. Like someone said earlier, this was very much a flop like Godzilla was....just overdone, with a poorly delivered plot, with bad acting and dialogue....and bad physics.

You are straight up crazy, there is indeed something wrong with you.

I didn't even LOVE King Kong but I'm sure as hell not going to knock it for bad physics! BWahahaha

and just to appease your logical monkey-mind let me toss this out there. Maybe tha harpoon brought down Kong because he was already weakened from the chemical bath he had already just taken. ZOMGEXPLANATION!!

Yes, that's the exact reason why this sucked. She's a fucking entertainer, but above that she's human and they just overlooked the fact that she would be scared shitless and juggling for the monster would be the last thing on her mind...straight up. Such "appeasing" would come at some point, but not right away. Instead of having the relationship build properly they had it go too fast, and in place put in way too many long and drawn out CGI scenes of battles. Yes, the relationships that are the core of the movie were empty and meaningless by the way they portrayed them.

Once again, bad physics are just the example I've been working with, but other aspects of the film were EQUALLY ridiculous. I really dont care if you choose to overlook them, but they collectively brought the film down in terms of quality. Oh, and the harpoon disabled him when he was up and fighting like mad, and obviously under no effect from the chlorophorm. They just did a shit job of it.

Ok, so instead you would prefer the movie to be 5 hours long, in order to show every aspect of Anne's budding relationship with Kong?

On another note, why do you insist on rewriting this movie in your mind?

"She's a fucking entertainer, but above that she's human and they just overlooked the fact that she would be scared shitless and juggling for the monster would be the last thing on her mind...straight up."

How do you know this? Did you write the script for King Kong? Did you perhaps provide crucial oversight in the developement of the characters of this movie? No, you did not.

Anne is a character in a movie. She has traits that carry her through the movie, which are pivotal to the plot progression. Obviously, the writer wanted to show that Anne had courage, strength, and compassion. These traits were shown in numerous scenes throughout the movie, and they also provided critical points that carried the movie to it's ending.

Not 5 hours, but 2.5 at the most would have been much better. There are pleanty of films that show the progression of relationships in adequate ways, and this wasnt one of them. I'm not rewriting anything here, and dont see how you're coming to that conclusion. I've given criticism about what was written, and have suggested ways they could have done it better, but havent "rewritten" a damn thing. By my comment about her being human, I didnt have to write the script to see that, I can see that by WATCHING THE FILM, which is how I saw where they screwed up. If I was on set to see how them screwing up in the development of the relationship, I'd have let them know about it. However, nobody was there to let them know they were screwing up, and they ended up fucking it. Sure her character was courageous and bold, but that didnt come accross well at all, since immediately juggling for the goddamn monster is a laughable action because nobody would do such a thing, regardless of their courage....nobody. I'm not questioning what her character should be in relation to the plot of the story, but how they did it was a joke.

Well, just got home from seeing the movie with my nephew. We thought it was fucking excellent! Definitely a blast and definitely value for money at 3 hours. The ending at the top of the empire state building was a tad dragged out, but I didn't mind.
The dinosaurs were great, expecially the fight and jaw breaking of the T Rex.

Hey canis, FANCY A GORILLA FALLING IN LOVE WITH A 2 INCH HIGH ACTRESS, WHO WOULD HAVE BELIEVED IT??! AND ISN'T IT AMAZING HOW THE ICE DIDN'T BREAK UNDER KONGS WEIGHT WHEN HE WAS SLIDING AROUND ON IT! :icon26:

Amazing computer graphics, so seamlessly done. Great film, just what I wanted. :icon14:
