And she is Japanese? Well TBH, Chinese/Japanese don't get anywhere near as much shit as the rest. However, if there is a chav in the area, it doesn't matter if your black white brown or blue, your gonna get something said to you...

The incident happened after the boy went into a rage at the residential center in February when a staff member took his baseball cap. He smashed windows and allegedly pushed staff members. He then refused treatment for his bleeding hand.
After the incident, police arrested the boy for allegedly battering four employees at the home, but the Cook County state's attorney's office declined to bring charges.

And they're fat and stupid. Cup of tea?
Stereotypes rule :icon14:

And eyewitness reports are often bunk and slanted against the police - I can't say that is the case here - but it happens. Again, we had all hell break loose here when a cop shot a 14 year old kid who repeatedly pointed what looked like a 9mm, but was actually a pellet gun (it had been painted all black to cover the colored safety part that is supposed to be there to identify it as a pellet gun). She repeatedly ordered him to put the gun down, but he sat there, grinning like a fucking idiot and waving it around then pointing it at her. She shot him. Well, turns out he had hearing aids in. So, the family cries foul, saying "why would you shoot a poor deaf boy?" I'll tell you why, because deaf or not, you don't steal a case of beer from the store at gunpoint, then wave and point your gun at the cops.
That was before tasers. If she had tasered him, she probably would have shorted out his hearing aids or something, which woudl also cause the armchair quarterbacking cop haters in this world to cry foul.
Maybe I'm oversensitive here, because I KNOW that there are cases where police abuse their power, but I see more publicity for the other end of the situation, where good cops have their lives and repuations smeared through the mud for acting in a manner consistent with their training and protecting themselves from folks who SIMPLY REFUSE TO COOPERATE.

i think the fact that it was major fucking news, shows exactly how rare it is for the police to shoot someone, let alone an innocent man (who was running away, after being told to stop by armed police) is in the UK.
not that this is relevant to the discussion here, but don't forget that they were plainclothes cops. The victim probably thought he was about to be mugged by mafia dudes.

Yea, his running from them makes a lot more sense in light of that.
That would be a tough situation.

Cops in plain clothes are bullshit. I remember one time I was sitting here owning it up in quake, and I saw a face in the reflection of my monitor. A bunch of dudes surrounded the house and were looking in my windows. I thought I was gonna get my asshole pounded by various sized penises. I sucked it up and answered the door, then a couple of guys who looked like fucking bums flashed badges in my face. Yeah, like those badges mean anything to me, I have a couple of those in the attic with all the halloween bullshit. Turns out they were looking for my brother. Shit, they still could have been the mafia looking to break his goddamn legs for all I know.

In that case I would have fully supported the police -- nobody with sense criticizes a cop for using deadly force when they have a gun being pointed at them.
I also understand your point about witnesses being slanted, which does happen often - especially if the victim has some sort of medical condition or other similar problem, that espouses a sense of pity or sympathy.
But the fact remains that tasers are potentially deadly, and there is no way to know when they will kill and when they won't -- so police should treat them as deadly weapons, just as they do guns, and just use them as less-lethal alternatives to guns. I still don't believe it's justifiable to use them for restraint, unless you would be willing to use a gun in the same circumstance.
