How the Government Staged theUK Bombings in Ten Easy Steps..
oh....they really kept this from the public then. Never heard of it till now, but I havent been up to date since i'm kinda fed up with all the TERRORISM politics.R00k wrote:There were 3 terrorism exercises occuring when the attacks happened. A large number of fighters were sent up toward northern Canada, and there was a "live-fly" exercise in the northeast US, meaning they inserted blips on the FAA radar screens and acted for all intents and purposes like real terrorist hijackings were going on.saturn wrote:I didn't know about 9/11 excercises. What happened that day?R00k wrote:Come on guys, don't let the terror exercises fool you. After all, the same thing happened on 9/11, and that was no reason to suspect anything out of the ordinary, was it?
The extra blips confused a lot of FAA personnel during the attacks. The drills were also the reason that FEMA was there the day before the attacks, setting up a massive response center. Which is why they were able to help so quickly (and quickly round up the steel to ship it off).
This smells like Batman.

Here is the interview with Peter Power, who runs the company that was doing the exercises that day.
Needless to say, he was as surprised as anyone to find out that they had real attacks on their hands:

Just like 9/11 - except on 9/11, the exercises were executed by government agencies, not private contractors.Power: Today we were running an exercise for a company . . . 1,000 people involved in the whole organization—with the crisis team. And the most peculiar thing was, it was we based on a scenario of simultaneous attacks on a underground and mainline station. So we had to suddenly switch an exercise from fictional to real. . . .
Interviewer: Just to get this right, you were actually working today on an exercise that envisioned virtually this scenario?
Power: Almost precisely. [2]
Within the hour Mr. Power was on the radio, too:
Power: At half past nine this morning we were actually running an exercise for a company of over a thousand people in London based on simultaneous bombs going off precisely at the railway stations where it happened this morning, so I still have the hairs on the back of my neck standing up right now.
Host: To get this quite straight, you were running an exercise to see how you would cope with this and it happened while you were running the exercise?
Power: Precisely. [3]

There are hundreds of tube stations in London, and they hit 3. Apparently, the same 3 the sims were going off at, and they are not the 3 biggest stations in London.seremtan wrote:it's addicted to spice. it can see your future
btw, the fact that some guys were running a drill based on this scenario at the same time has another explanation: that the scenario is so fucking obvious that everyone was thinking about it.
Second, the exercises were going off on the same day, at roughly the same time.
Although having said all that, what exactly does a company do as a 'terror exercise', and what company has business hiring them? Do they dress in dark glasses and carry suspicious briefcases for a few hours, or what?
TBH the exercises thing sounds like something rigged to later become a laughing stock, so that the story overall becomes credible because if you shoot down one crackpot theory you've anulled them all.

hard to judge just how picky someone could afford to be in searching for appropriate people for a 'job' like that.SplishSplash wrote:Yeah, but wouldn't the conspirators do the same background checks on their puppets and pick someone else?tnf wrote:God, one of the suspected bombers was a teaching assistant at a primary school, had an 8 month old daughter, very caring with students, counseled kids...it just doesn't make sense...
