４日午後２時１５分ごろ、東京都品川区荏原の共同住宅から出火し、木造２階建て延べ約２４０平方メートルが全焼。隣接するマンションなど３棟にも燃え移って一部を焼き、約６時間後に消し止められた。共同住宅の焼け跡から女性１人の遺体が見つかり、警視庁荏原署が住人の無職、住谷喜以子さん（７８）とみて身元の確認を急いでいる。同署によると、１階の内部が激しく燃えていた。ほかの住人は避難するなどし、けがはなかった
