It's fuckin awesome. Jimmy finally turned into the protagonist I wanted him to be. It's my new Dexter...

The music and atmosphere has made me want to play Bioshock 2 again.

I still think it's shit to the degree it actually pisses me off when i watch it, there's only a few redeeming scenes every episode. But then i do watch it... don't know why exactly
Geoff's crack about BoB is pretty much nail on the head to be honest, this show is to maffia epics what BoB was to war epics; overpolished, not nearly gritty enough, overly romantic... and wildly popular

well so far we've had lesbians, irish midgets, a religious fanatic FBI agent who whips himself while staring at a picture of Margaret Schroeder, and a guy with half his face missing, as well as bloody assassinations, omar little from the wire, president harding, al capone, whores aplenty and the women's temperance league. that's a lot of cool shit to fit into one show. beats the living crap out of the limp, sub-standard costume gash that passes for TV drama in the UK, no question

i think if youve seen and liked the old gangster movies with edward g robinson, humphrey bogart, james cagney, etc, its easier to appreciate what theyre trying to achieve

Boardwalk Empire and Steve Buscemi have both received Golden Globe nominations.

yeah it's good stuff so far. i'm wondering how many liberties they'll take with historical fact though, since the real nucky thompson (actually nucky johnson) had his heyday in the 20s and 30s and didn't die until 1968. he did eventually end up in jail but not until the 40s (all according to wikipedia

)
nothing in there about a berlusconi hair dyed captain haddock type taking his place tho

when i visited atlantic city I found it dead inside. what a shit hole. a few casinos here and there, and the rest of the area felt devoid of any life. Got a real shitty feeling in that city...will never visit again.

anyone notice the episodes all have the same 'intensity' arc? they pootle along, then suddenly at the end there's some intense violence or emotion

Finally finished the season. I'm so far behind on my shows...
SPOILER!
This was another great season with an outstanding finale. Just one complaint, they offed Jimmy! WTF?! He was such a good character. I also really liked Nelson. But it appears we've probably seen the last of him as well. They'll have a hard time replacing my two favorite characters...

let's not forget also that nucky's glorious future of raking in cash from the land deal was nixed by mrs thompson when she signed over the deeds to the church
something tells me he won't be a happy bunny when he gets home
not sure how they can really continue this show now. there's no more narrative tension left over from s1/2 to exploit. it would be like restarting from scratch

I'm sure that restarting from scratch is exactly what the writers were trying to do. It just means more episodes to them.

ho man they killed Jimmy!
to me its better than what i thought they were going to do to him...
turn him into a junkie and play that out for way to long.
the agent will be back no doubt
