I still cannot comprehend why people get pissy when I say that I don't like ATI, or any other person. I have had bad ATI experiences and have had good experiences with nVIDIA so I buy nVIDIA. If you have had bad nVIDIA experiences and good ATI experiences thus you buy ATI then I honestly don't care, I just can't understand why some people get up in arms when I share my experience and tell that I am an nVIDIA person, because graphics cards are quite expensive and I perfer to spend my money on things I have good experiences with.
I just have a problem with people who have a bad experience and then refuse to give the company another chance. IMO, ATI has come a long way since the old days.
They merged to save costs (both companies now have a 90 nm process meaning they can share production facilities) and to gain a more competitive stance in areas the intel has been standing alone in. Obviously, its possible that an ATI video card running in an AMD/ATI system could have a performance advantage but abandoning nvidia support would be suicide.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

That's what I believed at first. I gave them two chances to redeem themselves before happily switching to Nvidia.
Well I have had two laptops, both with ATI cards. The first ATI card did something and I had to disable write combing and hardware acceleration for Windows to run for more then 5 minutes, second one is doing fine. I don't see how I can be called a fanboy as I, repeat I, purchase what I want to purchase with my, repeat my, money, and seeing as I have a finite amount of money I would like to purchase things that have a good personal track record with me. My idea of a fanboy who would bitch and gripe at any moment, relevant or not, about a company and boast another company, again whether it were relevant or not would have no bearing and would insult others for making any purchase other then what the fanboy wants. As for other chances, I haven't really had the chance for other chances, the 6800GT is the last graphics card I have bought. Maybe if using my experiences to make my choice to spend my money on a product for me is being a bias ass fanboy then please show me why that is bad? To not use my experiences for my benefit would be stupid.

yknow what i dislike about ati?
the fact that driver updates are always like "fixed a bug in quake where the 2nd mesh on the right would go blank when hit with the plasmagun in a leapyear".
