Kills On Site wrote:I've done full installs of XP from an Upgrade version. Just boot from the upgrade disk and right before choosing what HDD to use and format it says that it needs proof of a previous copy of Windows. I put in anything from Win98 to XP, I think any copy, even upgrade copies of any Windows 98 opr newer, maybe 95, and then it says ok and asks for the XP upgrade CD back and it does a full install from it
thanks for summarizing exactly what I said. ;)
I'm just here to back you up

One thing you may want to consider is creating a boot CD that will install WindowsXP with all the latest service packs and updates, so you wont have to update it after you install. I'm not sure how to do this, but it's commonly done so it shouldnt be too hard to figure out.

Uh, I doubt that.
I bet the boot order in your bios probably had the CD-Rom drive set behind the harddrive.

Shiz, why don't you learn to do an unattended install. a good resource can be found here.

I already made a windows xp boot cd with sp2 on it, and I simply use auto patcher for the updates.

I just had no idea the cd does all the stuff because my older computer couldn't boot from the cd and I don't format that much so I always used the windows 98 boot disk method. :|
