Socrates would probably tell you that only the just and the wise man can give experiences their proper place, but such things can only be attained if one is truthful and trustworthy. Lies are like the shadows in the Cave and if we believe them we cannot ever become just and wise. The crux of the matter is that "cheating" and "lying" are wrong (it is inherent to the understanding of those words) and if you can avoid doing just that, you can properly value a relationship when it does come.
