You remember when you said to replace the house of lords with a US style senate for different regions in the UK ?, did you think that up ?, because it's in Labours manifesto.

either i thought it up myself independently or somehow absorbed it osmotically from the vast swamp of ill-thought-out ideas that were floating about around the time of the Scottish referendum

is it a good idea? maybe not. it's an acceptance and institutionalization of the idea that we don't live in one country, and that the parts of the country that aren't England need training wheels and affirmative action to avoid getting all salty. if Scotland want to have more clout they need to start making more babies

Anycase, either well played for retaining useful knowledge from a sea of shit or well done for thinking up sommat that makes so much sense its became party policy. It was the 1st time I heard of it.

I'm not sure it would be a good idea n all, it would probably be better than what's availiable at the moment and the increased representation would be a big benefit but I would be a little concerned that it would be run like a hung parliament with equal shares. I'm also not a fan of centralised government.

It's not about nationalism anyhoo, it is about the difference between the outer regions and the English districts which you can see in the vote distribution, the Tories would likely get an overall majority if it wasn't for us lot fucking up the system. Scotland just got asked if they would like to leave and it was a close call but there wasn't much talk of Scots VS English, they wanted to do what was best for their region and the Welsh are the same. Ask any Welshy if they'd like to leave the UK and they'd say no, they'd also likely identify themself as British as well as Welsh, same as the Scots perhaps ?.

I think the main issue isn't with splitting the country, I don't think many want that but they do want more control over how their communities are run which is something that I support - decentralising the government from London through devolution or whatever.
