The BBC have just cost themselves a huge amount of revenue; it's highly unlikely Hammond and May would carry on without him as well so the future of the show is pretty much doomed too.
Obviously with the fan base they've created it wouldn't be too difficult to start up their own show, on their terms, and create something fresh. They would probably have more creative freedom and I'm sure there are a ton of networks willing to pick them up...
Terrible outcome to this. Clarkson shouldn't have been sacked. Anyone who took that punch should've brushed it over in order to protect the countless amount of freelancing production staff who will now be out of a contract as a result of this.
Clarkson will always be a millionaire, and will continue to earn a seven figure salary. The only people who actually lose out are viewers who enjoyed Top Gear, and the production staff who worked on the show.

IMO the editors of the show deserve a share of the blame for this. I'm in the camp of he shouldn't have been sacked, there was plenty of other ways to deal with this and the guy he apparently punched wanted to carry on working with him on the show.
People like getting offended or growing an opinion and he's an easy target for them. I pissed when he said they should have striking workers lined up and shot but that caused a shitstorm in the media and nearly cost him his job. Fucking mongos. I'll agree that punching someone is too far, but that's why I'm saying this could've been dealt with better in other ways.
Also Steve Coogan ?, get fucked.

Lol, good. The shows been shit for years, I hope he's charged. Also if the cunt had punched me I would have knocked fuck out if him. Fair play to the chap for not battering him.
The only real problem is the specials they did were really good.

Yes, my feelings exactly.
The trio made a good "package"
Thanks for the video PhoeniX and yes, I see it now in the original link.
yeah, and replace James May and Richard Hammond with George Monbiot and Shami Chakrabhati. i for one for look forward to seeing Star On A Reasonably Priced, Leveson-compliant, and Sustainably Made Eco-Bike. the Stig will be played by Julian Assange
it would have the best human rights record of any show

Thank you, Chunk. I get that Clarkson has pushed the envelope too many times, but it was he himself that went and told the powers that be what happened, not the guy who got duffed.
I haven't seen anything from Hammond, but May has said more than once that he wouldn't renew his contract without Jezza.
On the Top Gear FB page with the story that was released today, one of the top comments says something like, "I only watch the show ffor te dynamic of the three hosts, I don't even like cars that much".
Also the page has lost 1.3 million likes since they posted that story this morning. Pretty crazy.

I think hammonds problem is that he does a lot of other stuff for the beeb that isn't TG related. I hope they both leave tbh but Id understand if try wanted to return, just I won't be watching it. I'd like them to move elsewhere, it won't be anywhere near the same but the same can be said if they stayed without Clarkson, they'd prolly lose the test track / studio and things like their little inventions, plus depending on where they end up they might not have the 'pull' for car manufacturers or celebs anymore and potentially have some sponsors to please on top of that. If clarkson struggled with the BBC political minefield then I think he'll have bigger issues elsewhere.
I'm just pissed off with the BBC for fucking it up, I don't feel sorry for Clarkson so much, still a big fan but hell be fine. I do have a lot of sympathy for his producer who seemed to want to avoid all this and seemed pretty distressed about the situation. It just sucks that they couldn't have come to a better solution without dragging it through the media spotlight. Cohen I think his name is, he's the boss clarkson approached about it all and he's had it in for him for a while, I know he's tried getting him sacked before and higher powers over rules him. By suspendig clarkson in the media spotlight, I think he tried forcing the situation.

racism is bullshit. It's just people getting too easily offended who got upset over those things.
