First zombie games based on George a romero's movies.

Post by reefsurfer »

"Hip Games today announced that horror icon Tom Savini, star of "From Dusk Till Dawn" and a noted horror makeup artist, will appear in City of the Dead, the first game based on the work of popular cult horror director George A. Romero and developed by Kuju Entertainment. Savini will bring his voice and likeness to William "Red" McLean, a battle-worn ex-law enforcement officer who is a survivor to the core. Savini’s character will initially provide fire support in the game then be playable, allowing gamers to experience the game through the eyes of "Red". The first build of City of the Dead will be unveiled behind closed doors next week during E3 2005 - Hip Interactive is located in the Concourse Hall at booth 5013. City of the Dead will be available for PC, PS2 and Xbox in spring 2006.

It's the guys that are working on The regiment, it could turn out good... but time will tell.

No engine announced, guess we know after E3... its multiplattforms so the pc version will take a beating..

Its still a year from release, so it could shape up... we really need atleast ONE full blood zombie game where its all about zombies and zombies and zombies and wrecked cities and zombies and shotguns... and some zombies.

So? It'd have to be something exceptional if it's going to have bad graphics like that. The only game I ever played that looked shitty was Postal. Cause it was funny.

Bad looking games usualy turn me off unless they're a classic or something. Even then I feel the games boring, when the novelty of reliving a game passes.

Even the new Zelda sucks.

There's a few games like that out there. One where you play 1 of 4 diff people and it's like a topdown view. Fun for 4 players but I forget the name. LOTS of zombies.

Sounds kewl, see if u can dig up anythhing more about it,im talking FPS and on PC here though.
A french game developer called Krysalide
started a zombie game over a year ago..they still havent released it.. although it was planned for a Q1 2005 release.

Dont know why we dont see more Zombie games for the pc and in fps... the zombie era has gotten a swing up again..its been dead since early 80's and now its back on the big screen...just wish it could be the same on pc.
There are like 100 mods out there that is all about zombies... but they never release them...sure zombie panic is out, but its for HL1 and it looks awful..so spare me.

Looks kinda ridiculous. Yet another "the dead things are going to get you so blast them to hell" type of game is just what we need...

Hunter: the reckoning is an utter piece of shit, which is another demonstration of why you should never ask Kletus' opinion on anything.

Still, if they're going to go George Romero, making the game look like a cheap piece of shit is probably the way forward.

There's Stubbs the Zombie, too, but I can't say I'm too excited about it.

there's also the game that blitz are working on, forget what it's called but it's from the zombie's point of view - like a strategy thing where you have to kill people.

dunno what to make of that 'zombies' one, i don't trust french developers not to fuck things up.

wish i had the time and the skills to work on a mod - ut2004 could be a good base for a zombie game. just replace the spider mine model with a low poly zombie model, change the animations, MOD and all that.

*Thinks wistfully of the days when all French games had amazing graphics and sound, and no detectable gameplay*

exactly. it's a shame that he very rarely finishes a game because I enjoyed Alice immensely.

You know what would be like, totally awesome? A zombie rpg.

I can see the whole thing now, it would start with an intro where the main character gets bitten by some godawful zombie and gets locked inside his house whilst the zombie apocalypse is in full swing. To survive the player must suck the blood out of rats for a while, to become familiar with the game and his new zombie state, after which he will gain strength and his first level. The player will then have to smash down the locked door with some zombie power he just gained (Grunting Smash lvl 2, or Throw Arm lvl2) and join the rampaging zombie army outside in their quest for world domination.

There will be familiar scenes blatantly stolen from random zombie movies, like storming a mall and killing any survivors. Oh, the adventure will be wonderous.

Hey 4days, help me think of a unique zombie style RPG combat system and we'll fairly split any earnings we'll make of this surefire cashcow.

I mean, 'strength' might still work, but obviously there are many practical problems with things like 'intelligence' and 'charisma'...
