Kracus is pretty sure that if any of you ever challenged him to a smoking weed competition, it would take him significantly longer to get high, and would cost him much, much more money.

Where he's from, that's a win.

except that it wouldn't, because the word i'm getting back from my pharma lecturer m8 is that the evidence for a building up of 'tolerance' over time in heavy users is paper thin, and what there is doesn't suggest a large effect; furthermore, the subjective 'tolerance' that hardcore playas like Krackass and Dopeboy are reporting may well be nothing more than 'compensation for intoxication', i.e. being accustomed to the drug's effects allows them to cope better than a noob (such as themselves when they first started smoking) would cope, and this 'coping' mechanism is the source of an - entirely subjective - 'tolerance'

tl;dr, i was right all along :idea:

I think you're probably right. In early 2000, I used to smoke about 5g a day, right around the time the big strains were coming in. The first joint of the day always got me ridiculously stoned, and I just used to carry on smoking to maintain that level. In fact, I used to just smoke and post on this forum all day.

I only ever got more or less stoned based on the potency of the weed. What increased was my ability to endure the high for
extended periods with reasonable success maintaining a workable lifestyle. I certainly didn't build up a physical tolerance at all. I think I just learned to cope with being unbelievably stoned on a constant basis. I bet it's the same as someone who's depressed: they don't build up a tolerance to it - they just learn how to function and appear normal.

When I stopped smoking in 2005, I became a machine, and I never kidded myself again that weed was anything more than a complete waste of time. Anyone who thinks it helps them is functioning at less than optimum performance.

Never got into it, I just turned a shade of green or white. I turned to lsd then pills then coke. Haven't done anything for years though now after having some horrid coke.

I'm glad of it too.

Nail -> head.

Sometimes I think weed helps my musical creativity, but the loss to short term memory fully negates any of those effects. I've had times where I'm trying to write something on guitar and I just get lost in my own riffs. Frustrating as fuck. Sometimes I feel like it provides an interesting take on mixing and arranging stage but, to think those ideas are unobtainable in a sober state is pure fallacy.
