Not remotely.Survivor wrote:So we can finally test for gayness
The physical manifestion of genetic traits is nowhere near as simple and straightforward as you learn in high school Mendelian genetics. Granted, there are some simple genotype-phenotype traits that are not continuous in their nature...but by and large, behavioral characteristics, etc., are the result of the interaction of multiple genes.
Two organisms can have the same alleles of a given gene and still differ in the degree which that trait is expressed. So, even if we do ever narrow it down to a 'gay gene' - which I doubt we will - there will probably still be an environmental component to the development of the behavior. Pretty much what feedback said.

Nah - you think? I call it a genetic reversal. Everything girls do for you, guys do for us. Down to brain chemistry.R00k wrote:This is interesting.

Could this finally, arguably be considered proof that homosexuality is a natural, biological phenomenon? In the Swedish study, when sniffing a chemical from testosterone, the male hormone, portions of the brains involved in sexual activity were activated in gay men and straight women, but not in straight men, the researchers found.
When they sniffed smells like cedar or lavender, all of the subjects brains reacted only in the olfactory regions that handles smells.
The result clearly shows a biological involvement in sexual orientation, said Sandra Witelson, an expert on brain anatomy and sexual orientation at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

He never said it had to be a traumatic incident or bad upbringing...there are many other ways environmental factors can come into play.Shmee wrote:Well, that's generally bullshit. I think the study done (by a gay scientist, nonetheless) was a double-blind look at cells taken from the brainstems of deceased gay and straight people. The cells from the gay people turned out to be markedly smaller, I think.CaseDogg wrote:some gland in your brain.LeonardoP wrote:what gland you talking bout then?
it mentions nothing of the dutchee professor who came to a similar conclusion in the mid80s, causing quite a stir in the homosexual community (e.g. "we are teh saem!!1 our brain is not different!! omg!!!1". like acknowledging that is a bad thing or summat)
