Good.

I've said for a long time that environmental lighting sucks as it applies to characters. I'm of the firm belief that in-game character lighting still isn't as good as it should be. I've always believed that a localized three-point lighting system should accompany each in-game character. These lights should be dynamic and change to represent the enviroment parameters. The only problem is that this takes up three dynamic lights with each character in a scene. With 5 - 10 characters on-screen at once you can guess the hardware limitation.

We are a few years away from truely "movie quality" cinematic representation...but it's getting there.

I'm thinking this is the first Unreal game with decent art direction. :) UT2004 was almost there, but completely moronic looking skins like the Egyptians and those goth guys completely ruined it.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

I meant that in a bad way. While I love your idea I just meant the dude is WAY to bright in most shots.

That's because of the "bloom" effect....which in these shots is a little overdone....especially coming off the chest plate.

However...the rim lighting on the charater's arms, legs and back are perfect for making the character stand out from the background without fudging with his contrast...which is my point entirely.

The whole "give your engine a nickname!" trend is getting old. Why can't they just call it Unreal Engine 3? Fuck. I don't know why, but it annoys me.

FUCK YOU VALVE FOR STARTING THIS TREND >:E

You mean, like the kind of hardware that's going to be available in 2007? :icon26:

The engine is still called Unreal Engine 3, it's the game that's codenamed "Envy".

looks good. however, as i said before, do we really want another DM fps? i mean ship has sailed IMO, as has the WW2 genre. time for another innovative take on the FPS scene I say

oh and yay for bulky UT weapons! :s

Isn't that like asking the movie industry to create a detective movie without a murder, or a B-grade cheesy romantic rip off without the gratuitous softcore shower sex scene?

mebbe thats the problem. everyones following nowadays in the industry. hardly any leaders.

yes its an FPS so it needs DM and we'll drop the whole SP game all together! that way, in 5 years, the game prolly isnt even playable anymore cause everyone else moved to the next DM game!!!11one

I think it's your time MKJ. We need a leader to trailblaze new dirt paths of suburban computer spraw. Take the tiger by the eye and plot a course for academic gaming achievement. Grab the dilemma by the horns and ride that first person shooter into the sunset.
yea i've too been kind of thinking about maybe a new sig but sort of haven't come to quite a decision yet

I think it's the opposite, pretty much.

If I have to gruel through long levels where you mindlessly find keys and solve pointless puzzles, after I finish it (usually just to know that I did finish it, rather than for it actually being fun), I usually don't go back to play through again.

Very few games break this trend with me. But mp-based games, I can always play dm online or whatever, but the play with bots comes probably as much (and maybe more) than my playing a singleplayer "story" game or whatever.

indeed. generic SP games are a dime in a dozen too. thats why i said we need some developers that will try something different for a change, and not try to please the biggest publisher on the block (who ofcourse wont accept any 'risky' titles).

prolly the reason why the underground games are usually the best ;)

[i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

My Pc is good. A gig of ddr ram. 3200 AMD 64bit CPU and a 6800 GT 256meg card. Runs anything on the markey with ease, even "the Project", FarCry makers tech demo that uses high res textures, high poly models, per pixel smooth shadows and special effects.

But i know, i jsut know, my pc will tell me to fuck right off running this thing. Looks stunning.

But will it look stunning in 2006? Time will tell...

It also looks like their normal maps self shadow which is quite expensive. Thief 3 does this, looks great but can be a performance hit.
