Soma - New game from makers of Amnesia

Post by bitWISE »

Even if I didn't already have a boner for Frictional Games, I would be pretty pumped for this one. They're making a sci-fi horror game and seem to have really stepped up the budget this time.

This page in particular is pretty awesome:

I own all except one of Frictional's games, I have completed exactly zero. I love their games, but can't play them for longer than 30 mins. without finding myself literally shaking. Shit's terrifying. Game looks intriguing, though if they add Oculus Rift support, they'll have to plaster the game with heart attack warning labels.

I wonder if you'll actually get any weapons in this game.

From the gameplay video on their home page I'm guessing it's the same as previous games. I'd love for them to do a blend of avoidance and very limited inventory of weapons or ammo.

Looks solid. Having never made it through Amnesia, I can't say much about the gameplay, but they know how to set the tone, goddamn.

just downloaded amnesia based on a friend's recommendation (she watched a walk through on youtube and found it terrifying). I'm making my way through deadspace for now, and I'm not touching amnesia until I'm done deadspace. Don't want my nightmares breeding with each other.

The gameplay of Amnesia was awful IMO. It wasn't as much scary as it was annoying to run out of light sources.

I'm not sure if I ever ran out, but I spent a lot of time running in the dark by choice. I was pretty let down by the ending compared to the Penumbra games. I still need to finish Machine for Pigs but I don't really like what Chinese Room did with it.

Took me a while to finish Dead Space because it was too tense for me to enjoy. Dead Space 2 was (just) a bit less terrifying because it
wasn't confined to a dead spaceship
Still have to finish Amnesia :owned:
