I disagree. Specs will be comparable (ignore all that stupid Sony super "cell" engine talk). Sure PS3 will be more powerful but not by that much imo. Also system power wont be as important as it was before. Hell, this generations technology hasnt been totally pushed to the limits yet or something I think.
Also remember, PS1 came out before N64 and it did very well. Same thing with PS2 versus Xbox/Gamecube. I think its a good decision to release this thing before the PS3: hopefully MS will be awarded with more market share.

I doubt it. To emulate a 700 MHz x86 processor on a PowerPC is no easy task.
I don't know how efficient VirtualPC and the like are nowadays, but they used to be really really slow. Not that they'd actually use VirtualPC, but it's the closest thing to compare.
(Hmmm, MS bought VirtualPC a while ago - maybe with XBox360 in mind?)
As for batteries, dont worry, see the bottom of that pad shot? looks like you will be able to charge it like a mobile phone. Not a dock i know, but better than nothing.
Best choice for the controller, IMO, would be a cord which works as normal, but can also be detached. So those who prefer corded can use it as a corded unit (signals go down the wire when connected) and those who prefer wireless can have thier cake too.
Added bonus is if the cell runs down, you can continue using it plugged in.

That design up top looks a lot like its been shaped from cheap plastic. I know its exactly the same model probably as those other "leaked" shots show, but here it looks a lot more cheap.
At least its small, much much smaller. But samn who cares the last box pwned anyways, so will this hopefully.
Bit worried about them doing a "nintendo" on us though. ATM, M$ seem to have a very hard list you need to check before you can do a game. Does it have online? Does it have custom sound tracks? Can you download extra content? etc etc, all of which that need to be pretty much "Yes" or "go away" :s
