q3map2 tools and windows 8

Post by dONKEY »

I can't seem to get the frontend to run at all. I tried a fresh download and I don't seem to be able to unzipped the archive either.
When I run the Q3Map2Toolz.exe I get the error:'COMDLG32.OSX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Does this mean it wont run on a 64bit pc?
Does anyone (Eraser ;)) know if toolz works under windows 8?
I can use batch files for everything, it's just a pain having to set everything up from scratch, and being old and out of practice I forget stuff :(

I didn't make Q3Map2Toolz, I think Hr.O did. What you could try is Google for comdlg32.osx and download it from somewhere. I think it's just some generic library that's required by the application to run. Drop the file in the application's install folder and see if that works. You could also try to do it the proper way and put it in C:\Windows\system32 or whatever the equivalent is of that in Windows 8 and use the Win8 equivalent of regsvr32 to register it.

Alternatively, you could try the tool that I did make :)

Hey, sorry my bad...I knew you made one of the frontends.
I'm having a problem with the installer for your app. I get an error message:
Can't create output file: C:\Program Files\QToolkit\qtoolkit.chm

Here is the last version of Q3Map2Toolz:

Try running as administrator and also try running in compatibility mode (right click on .exe and choose properties).

Thank you
//edit:
I can install the new version but I can't use it. It says I need to remove registry entries from the old version...which I have no idea how to do.
Any ideas?

That's odd. Maybe try uninstalling the program and then reinstalling it?

You are installing and starting the program via the right mouse button "open as admin"-command?

OK, seems I'm a bit blur, I needed to run the configure.exe as admin.
Thanks for your help, all good now.
